Calendar Collage: July

Just in time - here is my spread for July...
If you have been following my Summer of Colour entries you will know I have been doing a "girls of summer" theme using old photos. Well looks like I am doing the same for my calendar collage -  July has some ladies as well LOL.
These girls are getting ready for their annual Strawberry Social. I love fresh LOCAL berries and REAL whipped cream (not Cool Whip) - can't beat the taste don't you agree? I just wish the gals would look a little more friendly!
I got inspired by a piece of plastic table cloth that just happened to be red gingham - how fitting...Kept it simple - just acrylic paints. The picture came from a July 1967 issue of Life. I think this month I will try something different and not have dedicated spots for each day. Going to journal all over the place just to see how it looks. Enjoy! Jewels

Demise of Google Reader...

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
It's coming (July 1st) and since I already had signed up for Bloglovin figured I'd make the plunge now. I have copied all the blogs I follow over to my Bloglovin account - hopefully you will reciprocate!

Summer of Colour - Purple and Lime Green

Vanessa is a rather posh addition to my Girls of Summer collection...
...every summer she likes to give tours of the family garden (which by the looks of it is HUGE)
She especially loves to point out the butterflies and she even has her special butterfly dress she likes to wear this time of year!
May have something to do with the fact her name literally means "butterfly" (seriously go look it up...)
In fact she is very good at identifying them ... so much so she is known as the Butterfly Guide...LOL..
Go check out everyone else's purple and lime green creations at Twinkle Twinkle. Enjoy. Jewels

Summer of Colour 2 - Orange and Hot Pink

Meet Lulu...
...she is on vacation with her family in the New York Finger Lakes Region (that's what the old photo book cover says). She is pretty much your 1951 typical teenager...posing for the camera with her button up collar trying to look all grown up with her snazzy sunglasses  :)
There are two things Lulu really really likes - Pink Bubble Gum and Orange Sherbet...
They also happen to be her favorite colours LOL....my second piece for the Girls of Summer....check the rest of the Summer of Colour art over at Twinkle, Twinkle. It's a lot of fun! Enjoy. Jewels

Pretty

How pretty...
---a pretty vintage apron - love the graphics (it's pretty dirty too and needs a good cleaning LOL)
---a pretty (old) Needlework magazine...
---with some pretty awesome graphics (note the message at the top of the page)
---some very pretty dishes....
---maybe not so pretty but I rarely find Ladybird books - this one has seen better days but has some graphics that will get used...
---and some pretty vintage linen to "re-purpose"...
---a pretty good Thrift don't you think? Enjoy. Jewels

Summer of Colour 1 - Citron Green & Turquoise

Ah the Girls of Summer…
There’s Ruth, Martha (the mean looking one, don’t think I want to mess with her) and Gaby on a road trip…
…staying at their favorite Motel LOL. I am sure if the picture was in colour one of them would surely be wearing  Citron Green & Turquoise don’t you think!
And no, none of these fine ladies are relatives - just using up my very large collection of black and white photos I have thrifted. Watercolor, ink and stamping for the background. My first Summer of Colour piece…Enjoy. Jewels

p.s. special message to Jo - okay telling me I have to figure out how to "make" citron green was absolutely no help girlfriend - I stressed out for several days trying to get it right (is that how it is to be for 6 weeks) then found an ink pad that was good enough LOL

Calendar Collage: June

Meet the McPlaid family who, well, are obviously mad about plaid!
They are very well dressed for their summer sightseeing don't you think? Dad and Junior have their cameras ready. Mum and Princess are very modestly dressed, but ready to go (both look suspiciously like Shoppers to me - surprised they don't have purses LOL).
The McPlaid family vacation seemed fitting for my June entry for my calendar. Enjoy! Jewels
