Revisiting Glue Books

I really got the Glue Book bug when I joined Mary Green's class back in 2010. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - it really was the big change in my artsy direction and life. Along the way I have made so many friendships that remain firmly in place still today even though Mary no longer provides her virtual classes and her personal life has taken her on a different path (we will certainly miss her).
Lenna had the brilliant idea that our next Mail Art swap should celebrate Glue Books. I realized I had become rather rusty so decided to do a warm exercise so to speak. This is the Tyson family on Loon Lake, Aug 23rd 1946 (I wonder which Loon Lake - there are probably hundreds of them throughout North America).
Here is my spread using "fish" related pages from a sporting book. I added the stamp for some additional colour...hmmm I think I need to do some more to get back in the groove LOL. Enjoy. Jewels

  1. I haul mine out and look at it now and then but haven't put anything else into it. I like your page. Vintage stuff always grabs me. Love the wide legged pants on the girls.

  2. I have been looking through my 2 gluebooks as well, jewels. OH MY I created a LOT back then in 2010 : ) I love the feel and the style and I do have pages in both books that are blank, so I may follow in your footsteps and do just what you have done here - practice! yay! great idea.

Decklin & Tina are here but already to bed, tired after traveling. It is so fun to have them here. Speaking of family, so great to see your little man on your blog sidebar . .. . the dashing Mr. Darcy! xo

  3. Fab pages, Jewels - I love the photo and what you've put it with. I looked through my gluebook the other day - and almost couldn't believe it was me that did them, although I remember doing them, if you know what I mean? A warm up session like this is a good idea before diving into our swap.

  4. I love the fishy page! I don't have a clue what a 'glue' book is so I'm off to google it!
