Cottage Time

Hi everyone - we are back from our holidays in Canada ... fortunately for us, while everyone south had to deal with several days of record temperatures and humidity, we managed to do okay. It did get hot, but there is nothing like a lake breeze to help keep things bearable...the mosquitoes, however, were really bad - poor hubby was constantly slapping - did not matter how much bug juice you sprayed on I'm afraid...
And of course we got to do our regular site seeing - I am always amazed what new thing I will discover tucked away some where...

Some times quite comical - Chain Saw Sculptures seem to be the rage this season. I don't think I'd want (or could even fit) this crew in my little cottage family room...
There is also the inspiring that can be found literally, in the middle of nowhere! St. Margaret's Chapel--a small scale replica of a traditional Anglican cathedral in Zaire, Africa and named after Margaret Hayes, a prior who was a devoted church worker. The church is constructed from local limestone quarried for the foundations and walls and joists and rafters from timber within the immediate district. The first wedding ceremony at St. Margaret's took place in October of 1932.

And of course feeds the soul... I took this shot early one morning at a little inland lake around the corner from us - I liked how the dew on the canoe reflected the sun...

LOTS of wildflowers and summer monarchs (yeah) this trip - we have plenty of healthy batches of milkweed available for the fall monarchs who will be making their trip to Mexico in a few months...
I have so many "stills" now, I really need to print them properly and get them into an album (something creative of course).... Best of all, we FINALLY got around to watching Season 3 of Mad Men (can you believe it - I know B would be shocked it took me so long) Not sure what was more exciting, doing that or getting my Septic cleaned (if you ever need a tutorial on toilet paper let me know, I kid you not LOL) Enjoy, Jewels
